Update:

Summer Game Fest stage was where the Night Street Games studio presented its first title, Last Flag. This game blends a capture-the-flag experience with 5v5 teams and was created by Marc and Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons.

What is Last Flag about?

It is a capture-the-flag game set on a ’70s TV show. At the beginning of each match, players hide their flag on their side of the map and earn money to upgrade their abilities. Once the match starts, players search for the enemy team’s flag by controlling radar towers to narrow down the possible hiding spots. Players can face off against each other; instead of being eliminated, they are sent to a green room backstage from which they can reappear.

The game is intended to be a casual competitive game and matches are expected to last between 8 and 20 minutes, at which point one of the teams will capture and defend the enemy flag for 60 seconds, or with the sum of points if neither team is able to find the flag. It is expected that there will be multiple maps and up to 10 characters, each with their own unique personality and lines of dialogue in their native languages.

Last Flag is set to release in 2026 for PC and will later be available on consoles. Regarding pricing and monetization, Night Street Games has mentioned that Last Flag will have a modest launch price and will not include microtransactions.

The Origin of Night Street Games

Prior to its presentation at Gamescom Latam, we had the opportunity to speak with executive producer John Jelnick, who told us how Night Street Games came to be. The studio was founded by Marc and Dan Reynolds, the manager and singer of Imagine Dragons, respectively. Their passion for video games inspired them to create a prototype based on their childhood memories of playing capture the flag in the woods. This ultimately led them to collaborate with Big Craft and meet Jelnick.
