Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 may be getting a remaster very soon

Leaked promotional material seems to point towards a remake to ‘Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2′ to be announced very soon.

It appears as though fans of the Legacy of Kain series are about to get a huge gift, as attendees at the San Diego Comic-Con 2024 have spotted brand new logos and materials that reveal ‘Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered’, right on time for the title’s 25th anniversary.

A user on Resetera shared the brand new logos for the supposed remaster collection, which were spotted on display plaques that accompany statues of Kain himself and Raziel, the main characters of the gothic horror action games. The timing of this revelations seem to suggest that the game is set to be revealed very soon.

While no details about this collection have been shared by any of the possible studios or publishers involved, recently a Soul Reaver prequel, in the form of a graphic novel titled The Dead Shall Rise, was announced by Dark Horse Comics with a release date in August of this year. This, as well as the Remaster collection of games, could mean that they are part of a planned celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Soul Reaver franchise, which is celebrated on August 16.

The Legacy of Kain series comes back from undead?

While we haven’t had a title in the Legacy of Kain franchise in many years, Crystal Dynamics has been hinting at something for a long time, when in 2022 they held a survey for fans which included questions about how interested players would be in seeing the franchise return. “Rest assured, we hear you loudly and clearly, and we’ll continue to update you on the ‘what if’ possibilities ahead for Legacy of Kain in the future,” said CEO Phil Rogers when thousands of players shared their desire.

However, this was before the studio’s new holder, Embracer Group, started having various economic issues that led to massive layoffs and studio closures. Is it possible that the series can still revive? If this promotional material is something to go by, it would appear like Kain and his vampires are sturdier than we thought.
