Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver is coming back through a remastered collection for modern consoles

After months of rumors, Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver I & II Remastered has finally been confirmed, and it couldn’t look better.

They say old rockstars never die. Many remain in the collective memory of fans despite having been retired from the stage for decades. Such is the case of the Legacy of Kain saga. For years, its return has been the desire of fans who experienced its original releases. Now is its time to shine. As part of the September 2024 State of Play, Aspyr Media has confirmed the remastering of both installments of the Soul Reaver series. It will arrive on December 10. You can see its first trailer below these lines.

Legacy of Kain returns for its 25th anniversary

The collection is called Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver I & II Remastered. Yes, both deliveries are included in the same package with quite a convincing visual upgrade. It maintains the visual style of the originals while receiving a huge boost in sharpness. The textures and modeling look very clear. Of course, the resolution of the image also has an influence. From what we have seen, it is the perfect gift for those who asked for the return of the saga.

At the moment the confirmed platforms are PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S ; We will have to wait for the publisher to confirm if it will reach other systems at the same time. The compilation arrives at the best time, since it marks the 25th anniversary of the brand. Many are unaware that Amy Henning was at the head of the project long before putting her stamp on Uncharted, as the veteran worked at Crystal Dynamics to shape this adventure full of symbolism and mythology. There is no better opportunity to discover (or remember) a classic.
