Update:

One of the most eagerly awaited collaborations for Pokémon’s 30th anniversary had been revealed last year. The Pokémon Company ended its exclusivity with Mega Blocks, and in March last year it was revealed that 2026 would be the year when Danish company LEGO would be responsible for bringing the pocket monsters back to plastic bricks. And today that promise has come to fruition.

Through a video on social media, Pokémon has released a trailer revealing the start of this collaboration, making it very clear who the target audience is: adults who grew up with the franchise and want to continue enjoying life, building LEGO models of these characters, rather than paying taxes.

“As a lifelong Pokémon fan, it’s been an incredible honor to help bring these Pokémon to life in LEGO brick form for the first time,” said Siddharth Muthyala, Design Director on LEGO Pokémon. “Pokémon has inspired generations of fans around the world, so our team approached the design of these sets with immense care and passion, ensuring every detail and pose truly celebrates what makes these characters so beloved. I hope fans will love building them, as much as we did designing them.”

What sets will be included in the first wave of the LEGO and Pokémon collaboration?

The first wave will feature three different sets, the first being the LEGO Pokémon Eevee, which will consist of 587 pieces. Next will be the LEGO Pokémon Pikachu and Poké Ball, which will feature 2,050 pieces, including a black lightning bolt-shaped base and several Easter eggs inside this base. Finally, the most coveted piece will be the LEGO Pokémon Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, which will have 6,838 pieces, bringing the fully evolved Kanto starters to life, allowing for articulation in each of these three characters, and again, a base full of Easter eggs.
