‘Leviathan’, an anime adaptation on Netflix of an incredible fiction novel series, gets its first trailer

With an incredible studio behind it and composers from Studio Ghibli and more, ‘Leviathan’ is set up to be Netflix’s biggest anime of 2025.

World War I has not been as explored in the film industry as the Second, so it is always a good idea to discover works that are set in it. And in this case, things get even more interesting, because it is about a steampunk science fiction story in which there are also monsters and mecha. That is the base premise of the world of ‘Leviathan’, the new Netflix anime that will premiere in 2025, and whose trailer you can see just below these lines.

‘Leviathan’ is based on the novel of the same name by Scott Westerfield (the first of three in the series), in which the story of the First World War is told from the perspective of two young people involved in the war. Except in this timeline, both sides of the conflict have technologies that did not exist at the time, one involving gigantic mechanized vehicles, and the other bioengineered monstrosities that perform the duties of vehicles, weapons, communications, and more.

The quality of the animation is palpable from the first moment of the trailer and everything indicates that the soundtrack is not going to leave anyone indifferent, as it has the seal of both Kazuma Jinnouchi and Nobuko Toda (‘Suzume’) as well as Joe Hisaishi (Studio Ghibli).
