Magic the Gathering’s “One Ring” unique card, worth over 2 million dollars, has been found

The search for a highly valued unique card from the MTG Lord of the Rings expansion, the very appropriate One Ring, is now over.

Magic the Gathering’s “One Ring” unique card, worth over 2 million dollars, has been found

Fans all over the world have been desperately searching for a special one-of-a-kind card: The One Ring, a unique printing made for Magic: The Gathering’s Lord of the Rings current expansion. Announced as a 001/001 card (meaning there is truly only one print of it), the card has been valued at around $2 million dollars. And it now has been found.

As reported by The Gamer, it seems like The One Ring was hidden inside a booster pack acquired by the right person to find it. Knowing of its value and rarity, the owner submitted the card for authentication with the PSA, a leading card grading firm. And it’s turned out to be official, as other collecting companies and even Wizards of the Coast themselves have revealed the news on twitter.

With such a high value on the card, it comes as no surprise that the PSA has shared the wishes of the owner to remain anonymous. And yet companies like Dave and Adam’s Card World have started raising their original $1 million bounties, all the way up to $2 million USD. That’s probably the most any trading card has ever been valued at.

One Ring to rule them all, even if it’s a bit wrinkly

Another surprising fact about The One Ring card is that it’s not in perfect “Mint Condition”. It received a Mint 9 grading, which is the second best it can be, and while no details about why it was rated as such it’s reasonable to think that it might have been slightly damaged inside of its packaging, but there’s plenty of options to why it’s not “perfect. Previous cards have missed the GEM-MT10 rating because the printing wasn’t perfectly centered, or because of small imperfections on the edges of the card. Be as it may, the card is still being hunted for over 2 million dollars, and that number is bound to keep rising until a sale is made.

Personally, we agree with a small group of Lord of the Rings fans: the card is way too powerful, and we believe it might corrupt any living being who gets near it. We recommend finding a hobbit-like person, their gardener, and sending them alongside a fellowship of people to throw the ring into the raging fires of a volcano. It’s the only way.
