Many people don’t remember this, but Sam Neill appeared on ‘The Simpsons’ to voice this iconic character

He voiced the main character in one of the best episodes of the show’s fifth season.

Update:

Following the death of Sam Neill, the actor who brought the legendary Dr. Alan Grant to life in ‘Jurassic Park,’ it’s only natural that anecdotes and interesting facts about his career are surfacing. He is a much-loved figure in the world of film and television, so there’s always a story or two worth remembering. For example, although it’s not exactly unknown, many people don’t recall that he appeared on ‘The Simpsons’—a series in which he voiced a character who appeared only once.

Sam Neil was the voice of Molloy, The Springfield Cat Burglar

Known as The Springfield Cat Burglar, Molloy was a key character in episode 11 of the fifth season of ‘The Simpsons,’ “Homer the Vigilante.” In this episode, the residents of Springfield fall victim to a wave of burglaries. The Simpson family is particularly hard hit, as the mysterious thief—who always achieves his goal without leaving a trace—manages to steal Lisa’s saxophone, Bart’s portable TV, and Marge’s pearl necklace, among other items.

The highlight of the episode is that a group of neighbors, led by Homer Simpson himself, decides to take to the streets to patrol the area. After they manage to capture the thief, he escapes from jail and challenges all the residents of Springfield to find a treasure hidden somewhere in the city. The character in question was played by Sam Neill.
