Margot Robbie is “still involved” in Pirates of the Caribbean, says Jerry Bruckheimer
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer insists Robbie is still on board, though the project’s true direction remains unclear.

The status of Margot Robbie’s involvement in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise remains one of Hollywood’s most confusing development sagas. In a recent interview, veteran producer Jerry Bruckheimer insisted that the actress is “still involved,” directly countering Robbie’s own 2022 statement that the female-focused film had been scrapped by Disney.
In a recent interview with The Wrap, renowned producer Jerry Bruckheimer discussed the status of the next film in the franchise. “We’re working on a script. It’s always on the page; if we don’t have it on the page, it’s not going to get on the screen,“ Bruckheimer said. ”We had two scripts at one point, and then one kinda dropped out, and then we kinda went on with the other one.“ Regarding Margot Robbie’s status, he simply replied, ”Well, she’s still involved.”

What has been Margot Robbie’s history with Pirates of the Caribbean?
The actress’s history with the famous franchise dates back to 2020. At that time, it was announced that she would be participating in a new installment of the film based on a script by Birds of Prey screenwriter Christina Hodson. For his part, Bruckheimer was already working on both the project with Robbie and a second film with a script by Chernobyl and The Last of Us creator Craig Mazin.
Bruckheimer’s latest update suggests that one of those scripts “kinda dropped out,” leaving a single story on the development table, although earlier last year, both movies were still considered. The producer also confirmed that Ted Elliott, who co-wrote the first four Pirates movies, is involved with the script that moved forward.
The lingering question for fans is whether Robbie’s involvement means her original concept is back on track, or if her celebrated star power—bolstered by her global success in Barbie—has secured her a role in the other project, which is widely considered to be Pirates of the Caribbean 6. Securing an actress of her caliber guarantees a fresh, exciting take that could inject new life into the aging franchise.
