Marvel Rivals’ launch trailer confirms Wolverine, Black Widow, and more characters at release
With only a few days before it goes live, Marvel Rivals got a final trailer that reveals even more characters for its already incredible roster.
For years, the hero shooter genre has been mostly dominated by Overwatch (now Overwatch 2), with many others popping up now and again to varying degrees of success. Some, like Concord, fail almost immediately, while others like Paladins continue to have a small but dedicated fanbase. Now, Marvel Rivals is only a few days away from its official launch, and NetEase released a trailer to celebrate that not only hypes up the game, but also rounds out the initial cast of characters you’ll be able to play on release day.
The Marvel multiverse-inspired hero shooter already revealed a huge cast of playable characters based on the heroes from the comics and movies, but the launch trailer has confirmed five previously unseen heroes that already are looking very exciting to play as: Wolverine, Black Widow, Cloak & Dagger, Iron Fist, and the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.
Announced last March, Marvel Rivals is a competitive multiplayer title with teams of 6 players, and will be completely free to play. Obviously, it is to be expected that there will be some type of microtransaction model or battle pass, although NetEase has assured that all characters that arrive after launch will be free.
“Overwatch really helped establish the genre, I think it’s a great game. It’s an honor to be compared to a great game, that’s true, but it’s also different, and I like it,” Thaddeus Sasser, director of Marvel Rivals, said at the time. It arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on December 5, 2024.
Every Marvel Rivals characters available at launch
Marvel Rivals will arrive at launch with this massive roster of characters, although as we said before, more will be added later.
