Kevin Feige, the CEO of Marvel Studios, has spoken about the long-awaited new version of ‘The Fantastic Four’, highlighting that it will be set in the 60s and will be located in an alternative universe to the one in which the Marvel Cinematic Universe is located today. These statements were made in the first episode of ‘The Official Marvel Podcast’ and have taken many by surprise, not because of the fact that it is set in the past, something that could be guessed from the style of the promotional images, but because of the alternative universe in which it will be set and whether or not this means that what we’ll watch in it will be set on the edge of the current MCU.

It is a period film, and there was another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a 4 symbol,” said Feige. “There was a cityscape in that image, and there were a lot of smart people who noticed that that cityscape didn’t look exactly like the New York that we know or the New York that existed in the 60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I’ll say…” The CEO of Marvel Studios confirmed that the film will begin filming on Monday, July 29 once the San Diego Comic-Con has ended.
