Marvel Studios has found its new Sentry in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’s Lewis Pullman
The MCU didn’t waste any time looking for a replacement for Steven Yeun, who was set to play the uber-powerful Sentry in the ‘Thunderbolts’ movie.
Marvel Studios’ next movie, ‘Thunderbolts’, is gradually rounding up its cast, this time with one of its most important and long-awaited roles by fans: Sentry. The so-called “Marvel’s Superman” was left without an actor recently after the exit of Steven Yeun (‘The Walking Dead’) due to scheduling incompatibilities; now it’s been confirmed that Lewis Pullman (‘Top Gun Maverick’) has signed on to play Sentry. On the other hand, Ayo Edebiri (‘The Bear’) has also left the production, confirming Geraldine Viswanathan (‘Bad Education’) as her replacement.
Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts’ completes its cast
After the rumors that placed Pullman as the new Sentry of the MCU replacing Steven Yeun, it is finally confirmed that the actor known for his roles in films like ‘The Strangers: Night Hunt’, ‘Bad Times at the El Royale’, ‘Them That Follow’ and ‘Top Gun Maverick’ will be the almighty Sentry from Marvel Comics, at least in the upcoming antihero film, ‘Thunderbolts’.
With this signing by Marvel Studios, it is expected that we’ll see a Sentry something more similar to the one in the comics, although it is true that the actor should gain muscle mass if he intends to wear his classic suit. Although you can always add filler, as in the case of Homelander in ‘The Boys’.
On the other hand, Marvel also confirmed the departure of the actress and comedian Ayo Edebiri, known for her role in the award-winning series ‘The Bear’ and ‘Big Mouth’, as well as films like ‘Theater Camp’ and ‘Bottoms’, in addition to lending her voice to animated feature films such as ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ and ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’, due to agenda incompatibilities. Instead, Geraldine Viswanathan will join the cast in a role yet to be confirmed.
‘Thunderbolts’ is scheduled to premiere on July 25, 2025.
