Marvel Studios president has confirmed Nova is coming to the MCU

Nova, the cosmic superhero of the Marvel universe, will become one of the main faces of the MCU in the coming years according to Kevin Feige himself.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, has made a lot of headlines in a recent interview with Comicbook.com in which ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ has been the central focus… but not the only one.

The future of the MCU is on everyone’s lips after recent setbacks like ‘The Marvels’ or ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’, as well as how Marvel Studios is going to rethink the cadence of its productions, betting more on quality than quantity. Obviously, in the future of the UCM, there is also room for new faces, and one of them has been highly desired by fans for years: Nova.

Nova will arrive in TV series form

Created in the mid-70s by two Marvel veterans of the time, Marv Wolfman and John Romita Sr., he was the most recognizable member of the Nova Corps, and with powers originating from his helmet. “It’s happening, it’s coming together. Richard Rider, yep,’ said Feige briefly but concisely. “A show, yeah, yeah. It’s three or four years out”, warning that there is still plenty of time left for his debut on the small screen. Knowing how they work at Marvel, it should not be ruled out that he makes a brief appearance as a teaser in one of the upcoming movies set to release between now and then.

“We love Nova. We are in really early development on Nova,” Brad Winterbaum, head of streaming, animation, and television at Marvel, said at the time. “We have a new system behind the scenes at Marvel Studios. We’re more like a traditional studio now. We’re developing more than we actually will produce. There are plans to develop Nova. I love Nova, too. I love Rich Rider, too. I hope it gets to the screen.”

Nova could have already debuted in the MCU, since he was in the initial plans for ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, although his presence was ruled out at the last minute. Likewise, fans were surprised by his absence in all of the three ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ films, given the importance of the Nova Corps in Marvel’s galactic adventures. “From the beginning, when I started on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’, I didn’t want two humans,” James Gunn said a long time ago. “I wanted to have just one human being who was surrounded by aliens in this world,” he said, referring, of course, to Starlord.
