Marvel unravels the mystery behind Gwen Stacy’s resurrection and surprising new role
It will be a five-issue miniseries in which the original Gwenpool and Spider-Man must investigate what’s behind this controversial resurrection.
Marvel once again makes it clear that there is nothing definitive in the events of the Earth-616 continuity, and the most traumatic death in the history of the House of Ideas, at least among those who seemed to be forever, it turns out that it will not be either. We already saw a few weeks ago that the resurrection of Gwen Stacy seemed to be a fact, although we did not know for what purpose, not even if it would be within the continuity, as it was, but the mystery has been solved: it will be a new Gwenpool.
Gwen Stacy becomes a new assassin in Marvel continuity
Marvel has already flirted with the return of Gwen Stacy to Earth-616 in the role of Ghost Spider, albeit with the excuse of a multiversal journey that made it more or less sneak in. However, this resurrection has angered more than a few fans who do not understand how one of the most devastating events in Spider-Man history has been disrespected, and now the original Gwenpool will team up with her to unravel what lies behind this resurrection in a five-issue miniseries that is sure to cause quite a stir.
“GWENPOOL IS BACK AND MORE DANGEROUS THAN EVER! Everyone’s favorite reality-twister’s life is changing,” reads the official synopsis. “A grittier doppelganger is bringing her own brand of hyper-violent justice to a battle-strewn NYC! Who is this dark Gwenpool? And what does she want with the Amazing Spider-Man? Kate Bishop and Jeff the Land Shark guest-star in a comic series that will shock you to your core!
In charge of the series are Cavan Scott (writer) and Stefano Nesi (art), who have the not inconsiderable responsibility of convincing the fans, if they can, that this new Weapon X project makes any sense at all.
