Mass Effect warping to television, with Prime Video working on a series adaptation
Bioware’s beloved sci-fi epic, Mass Effect, is also getting its own adaptation as Amazon’s Prime Video reveals it’s already working on an adaptation.
A television series adaptation of Mass Effect is in development at Amazon MGM Studios, according to Variety. The adaptation will have Daniel Casey as scriptwriter and executive producer, who recently worked on ‘Fast & Furious 9′. In addition, it will feature Karim Zreik, known for being an executive at the defunct Marvel Television who was part of productions such as ‘Daredevil’ and ‘The Punisher’, and who in this adaptation will be in charge of executive production under his company Cedar Tree Productions.
Many names will be part of Mass Effect and that are linked to major productions in the film and television industry. Ari Arad will also be executive producer after having participated in adaptations such as the ‘Borderlands’ film, ‘Uncharted’ and also Marvel films such as ‘Iron Man’ and ‘Ghost Rider’. Finally, another name worth highlighting is Michael Gamble from Bioware, in charge of the next installment of the saga and who is also part of the upcoming television series.
A new adaptation of a legendary video game
Details about the plot of the Mass Effect series are unknown, a saga that was born in 2007 and was a huge success with critics and the public. The original trilogy quickly became a classic of the medium, and while its fourth entry, Mass Effect: Andromeda, failed to wow fans in 2017, the franchise never quite lost its strength and popularity. Will the adaptation place us around Commander Shepard and the original trilogy? A science fiction universe full of possibilities that is preparing to land on our televisions.
