Update:

Ten years after the world first learned the story of Max Caulfield and Chloe Price at Blackwell Academy, Square Enix has announced Life is Strange Reunion during a special livestream presentation. During the broadcast, voice actresses Hannah Telle and Rihanna DeVries confirmed that this new adventure will launch on March 26, 2026. The story of this installment will take players to Caledon University, where a devastating fire threatens to destroy everything, forcing the protagonists to work together to uncover a truth that seems to defy the very laws of reality.

How is it possible for Chloe to return after the original ending?

One of the biggest questions among fans was how Chloe’s return would be handled, considering that the first game allowed players to choose her fate. The developers explained that the story of this installment stems directly from the events of Double Exposure. In that title, Max attempted to save her friend Safiya by merging two different timelines. This supernatural act had an unexpected side effect: the realities in which Chloe lives and in which Chloe dies have become intertwined.

  • Impact of your decisions: The game will respect your original 2015 choice. If you sacrificed Chloe, she will appear with traumatic memories of her death; if you sacrificed the city, she will remember the storm that destroyed her home.
  • Branching dialogues: The relationship between the two will adapt to this shared past, allowing the player to decide whether they rekindle their friendship or begin a formal romantic relationship.
  • Mental consequences: Chloe suffers from impossible visions due to the fusion of realities, adding a layer of psychological mystery to the narrative.

What’s new in the gameplay and powers?

In this installment, the classic mechanics return, but enhanced. Max regains her iconic ability to rewind time, now in a more agile and responsive form. On-screen, the famous time spiral will mark key points where we can intervene. This ability will be vital not only for solving puzzles, but also for preventing students and Max’s friends from dying during the university fire. Chloe, meanwhile, is not left behind and regains her Backtalk ability, which allows her to extract information from hostile characters through verbal duels.

What is the central mystery at Caledon University?

The story is built as a race against the clock. A forest fire threatens the campus, but Max suspects it was not an accident, but an intentional act. As the investigation progresses, a web of theories is revealed, including violent protests, resentful staff, and the possible existence of a secret society operating in the shadows. The major new feature is that, in moments of extreme danger, Max’s power will activate as an automatic reflex, granting us a few crucial seconds to prevent an imminent tragedy. The mission of this installment, which aims to bring the series to a close, is clear: discover who started the fire and why Chloe is connected to these events before time runs out for good.
