McDonald’s and Dragon Quest: impressions of the themed burgers sold in Japan
The fast food chain launches a special collaboration in Japan with the legendary video game saga, presenting exclusive products inspired by the Square Enix universe.

The worlds of video games and gastronomy come together once again in one of the most iconic collaborations of 2026. McDonald’s has officially announced a partnership with Dragon Quest, the iconic role-playing game franchise, to introduce the “Dragon Quest Burger.”
Since January 7, establishments in Japan have been transformed into authentic RPG taverns, where diners can choose from three new burgers and special drinks that pay homage to some of the most beloved elements of the saga.

What options are available on the Dragon Quest menu?
The menu is divided into three distinct flavor profiles, designed to satisfy different levels of “heroic hunger.” The star of the campaign is the Zakugiri Potato & Thick Beef (with consommé sauce and pepper), which combines juicy 100% beef with a crispy potato pancake and smoked bacon. The combo price can reach 1,020 yen (approximately $6.44 ).
For those who prefer an alternative to beef, there is the Hot Chili & Tartar Chicken, made with a piece of crispy chicken bathed in a mixture of spicy garlic sauce and tartar-style sour cream. Finally, for lovers of the classic with an extra touch, there is the Cheese Double Teriyaki, which doubles the portion of pork with traditional sweet teriyaki sauce and melted cheddar cheese.

First impressions of these new burgers
Beyond the taste of the food, it is worth noting that the experience extends to the drinks. McDonald’s has introduced the Yogurt McFizz, a carbonated drink with a smooth and refreshing profile, ideal for cleansing the palate after the intense flavors of the burgers and which, with its blue color, emulates the franchise’s iconic Slime. This drink can also be transformed into a McFloat by adding vanilla ice cream on top.
It should be noted that, as this is a limited edition, some stores may sell out before the scheduled end date.
