Metal Gear Solid Delta producer reveals that having Hideo Kojima work with them would be “the dream”

During a presentation about Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, the game’s producer revealed that he’d like “nothing better than to work " with Hideo Kojima and his team again.

The separation between Hideo Kojima and Konami was one of those difficult moments to assimilate at the time, as both the legendary creative and the Japanese company were teamed up for almost three decades. A relationship that began in 1986 and ended in 2015, but despite a decade having passed since their departure, there are many who dream of them working together again at some point, even people within Konami. Such is the case of Noriaki Okamura, the producer in charge of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, who during a talk held by Konami answered a question in reference to Kojima himself.

Noriaki Okamura was asked during the conference about the possible involvement that the original Metal Gear development team could have in the future, responding that “people have moved on to new things and new commitments, and that is our current reality.” Furthermore, he stated that it is “not my place to answer on behalf of anyone outside the company, or to guess how they might feel about it, but as far as I’m concerned, I’d like nothing better than to work with Mr. Kojima and the rest of the team again. If that could happen, that would be the dream.”

Konami and Hideo Kojima, a far off dream

During the conference, Okamura also highlighted that Kojima and all the original development staff are, of course, credited for their original roles. “They’re a part of these games too, so absolutely, they’re in.” A necessary detail that Konami could not fail to include, is that Metal Gear as a saga will be eternally related to the figure of Hideo Kojima.
