Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater explains name change
For many it will still be Metal Gear Solid 3, but Konami has explained why they decided to change the 3 to a triangle.
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake was one of the standout announcements at last Wednesday’s PlayStation Showcase. The return of a true legend such as the third installment of Hideo Kojima’s saga, considered by many to be one of the best video games in history, its revamped look marked by an impressive leap in graphics quickly captivated Snake fans. However, there is one thing that still puzzles many people: why has the number 3 been replaced by a triangle? Is it because a triangle has 3 sides? Or maybe we already forgot some of our high school science courses…
The new name of the game is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Because that’s exactly what that triangle is: the Delta symbol, but what does it mean? According to the official account of the saga on Twitter, Delta means “change” or “difference”, but without changing the basic structure. This means that the remake of MGS 3 will change the graphics and certain playable aspects, but the story, characters, development, soundtrack and other characteristic elements will remain intact.
Where can you play the original Metal Gear Solid 3?
There are probably millions of players interested in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but it’s also quite possible that many will want to relive the original experience if they haven’t already. Fortunately, unlike the first installment of Hideo Kojima’s saga, we currently have several ways to enjoy MGS3.
In addition to the original PS2 installment, there is a Nintendo 3DS adaptation and an HD version in the Metal Gear Gear Solid HD Collection for PS3 and Xbox 360, which also includes Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. This collection is playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series XS via backwards compatibility.
