Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection’s physical version on Nintendo Switch requires a MicroSD
Konami has confirmed that the MGS: Master Collection cartridge for the Nintendo Switch only has a5% of the content, and the rest must be downloaded.
The fact that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is going to have a physical edition perfect for collectors and available on all consoles is fantastic news. But the size that the game occupies and the amount of content that we will have to download through the Internet, not so much. The title has a size that doubles the memory capacity of the standard Nintendo Switch cartridge. So you better go make some space... and prepare a MicroSD card.
How much does space does Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection take on Nintendo Switch?
Unfortunately for those who prefer to have everything in the cartridge and avoid downloads that fill up a large part of the internal storage, it’s much more than we expected. The game cartridge only comes with 2.4 GB of content, and players will be forced to download 54.1 GB separately (30 GB belonging to cutscenes, which, as you well know, are very numerous in the games that make up the collection). Konami has confirmed that it is necessary to have a MicroSD card for the Switch version.
This is not the first time this has happened with console games, since the Nintendo Switch has an internal storage of 32 GB in its Standard and Lite versions, while the largest capacity is taken by Nintendo Switch OLED and its 64 GB, which is still insufficient for the heaviest titles that require additional downloads.
All games included in MGS: Master Collection Vol. 1
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 will go on sale on October 24, 2023 for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
