Michelle Yeoh won’t be part of the Avatar series until Avatar 4
The legendary Michelle Yeoh has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming James Cameron movies set in pandora, but she’ll be skipping Avatar: Fire and Ash
Entertainment Weekly took advantage of D23 to get some juicy information from director James Cameron about the ‘Avatar’ series. For decades now, Cameron has dedicated his career to developing the world and creatures of Pandora, with many films underway and filming having started years ago for the next few releases.
And as big as his project is, the cast is also packed with some hugely important names, such as Oscar-winning Michelle Yeoh, who recently took many triumphs thanks to ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. The actress was recently seen filming in the set of Avatar 3, so many assumed she would have a part to play in the upcoming movie. However, Cameron has now clarified the situation.
Avatar is here to stay, but Yeoh won’t be here until 4 and 5
The director emphatically put things in their place. And the rumors were not wrong, but they had made the wrong assumption: “Michelle Yeoh won’t be in 3. She’s in 4 and 5. So that got a little bit misreported. She will be coming in soon to do her part, which is an interesting, fun character.”
As is customary since ‘Matrix’ Reloaded/Revolution and the ‘Lord of the Rings’ Trilogy, it is much cheaper to shoot several installments of a saga at the same time. Personnel, resources, time, and money are optimized. Of course, you don’t have audience feedback that allows you to rethink things if some decisions haven’t worked on screen.
‘Avatar 2: The Way of Water’ became the third highest-grossing film in history only being surpassed by its predecessor and ‘Avengers: Endgame’. We don’t know if Michelle Yeoh will play a human or Navi, although she looks like she’s wearing blue. What is clear is that she will undoubtedly appear in this saga because the filming is assured by the box office so far. Having the support of the public, there are Pandora movies for a while.
