Update:

Despite Windows’ success as the operating system for the bulk of the PC market, for years it has had to deal with minor Windows Update bugs that have been reported ad nauseam by users. One of them has finally been fixed for good, and it’s one of the most classic solutions.

Until now, computers often gave an error when the “update and shut down” option was selected. Instead of shutting down, the PC would restart. This was a major inconvenience because if you left, you left the computer on. In the case of laptops, being turned on consumes battery power. Imagine waking up the next morning and finding that your battery is dead. Your work is ruined.

The solution has already been fixed in Windows 11. Specifically, patch 25H2 of build 26200.7019 allows the computer to shut down completely when you choose “update and shut down.” Those patch numbers will soon change, as Microsoft wants to make updates easier for users. They want you to know more precisely what you have installed and when you did so, in order to report bugs more quickly.

This is one of many fixes included in the patches released by the US company. If you are a Windows 10 user, the operating system has already entered the end-of-life phase for updates. From October onwards, you will only receive fixes for bugs that affect the security of your computer. This is a way of encouraging users to make the leap to the new version.
