Microsoft confirms delay of Black Myth: Wukong for Xbox Series X|S

Black Myth: Wukong quickly became a massive success, but its release on Xbox is nowhere to be seen. Now, Microsoft has opened up about why that is.

Black Myth: Wukong is one of the biggest successes of the video game industry in 2024, the Game Science game is a complete hit and has managed to put China at the top of the industry, demonstrating that they can stand out in all types of developments. The game is available on PlayStation 5 and PC, with its launch on Xbox Series X|S indefinitely delayed. The reason? There has been much speculation about this, and a spokesman for Microsoft has spoken to Forbes about it.

“As we have said before, we’re excited for the launch of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms.” The spokesperson spoke about the delay and the reasons for it, stating that “We’d prefer not to comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders but we can confirm that the delay is not due to Xbox platform limitations that have been raised to us.”

Wukong and his delay on Xbox

The controversy surrounding Black Myth: Wukong and the fact that the Xbox version was not ready at the time of launch had the following response from Game Science last June: “We are currently optimizing the Xbox Series X| S so that it meets our quality standards, so it will not go on sale simultaneously with the other platforms.” Given these statements, it was thought that something similar to what happened with Baldur’s Gate 3 and the difficulties in transferring the game to Xbox Series S could have happened.

Now, Microsoft has spoken out and for its part confirms that the delay of the game is not due to Xbox limitations, but rather hints at the fact that there could be some type of agreement with PlayStation that has given temporary exclusivity to Sony.
