In Las Vegas, just before the highly anticipated fight between Canelo Álvarez and Terence Crawford, a very special moment took place: the legendary Mike Tyson punched YouTuber MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson). And no, it wasn’t a clash of egos. The content creator, known for his unique challenges with tens of millions of views, volunteered to take a punch from the boxing legend for promotional purposes.
“I’m about to get punched by Mike Tyson,” said a cheerful Donaldson, just before Tyson landed a hook to his stomach that clearly lacked the power that the former heavyweight champion can still pack into his punches. Despite the lightheartedness of the moment, the YouTuber was doubled over in pain and on his knees, with an expression on his face that showed the damage he had suffered (either that or he’s a great actor).
A viral punch
The moment was captured on video and quickly went viral on social media, with all kinds of humorous comments about it. MrBeast, who is known for being an almost robotic, cold, and somewhat impersonal personality, was said to have “regained his soul thanks to Mike Tyson’s punch.” Tyson’s happy face, clearly delighted with the moment, also caught people’s attention.
Tyson, 59, continues to be in the media spotlight with several projects, including an exhibition match against Floyd Mayweather scheduled for 2026. With this new episode alongside MrBeast, he demonstrates that the cultural influence of “Iron Mike” has no expiration date and that he is an icon for several generations who hold him in their collective imagination.
