Milly Alcock as Supergirl is ready to fly with her teaser trailer for the next look at the new DC Universe
Supergirl’s standalone movie continues the DCU rollout after Superman.
Despite Netflix’s future purchase, the current DC universe in cinema continues as planned. James Gunn gave us a preview last Sunday that this week we would have our first glimpse of Supergirl. Yesterday, Times Square in New York was filled with a series of countdowns, accompanied by the phrase “Something is Coming,” the DC Studios logo, and a familiar blue tone. All to reveal the date and time when we would look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl on her first teaser trailer. And although we briefly saw her visiting her cousin at the end of Superman, we finally have this glimpse of her movie.
‘Supergirl’, the next film in the DC Universe
A few months after the release of Superman, the next movie Warner Bros. is preparing is Supergirl. It will star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Jason Momoa as Lobo, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze.
The film is inspired by a comic book miniseries published between 2021 and 2022, created by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, in which Supergirl contemplates her existence until an alien girl asks for her help on a mission of revenge. The movie already has a synopsis, that reads:
“When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero.”
