DCU

Milly Alcock, Rhaenyra in ‘House of the Dragon’, will be the new Supergirl in the DCU

James Gunn officially confirms it, although it is still unknown if she will appear in ‘Superman Legacy’, the expected new Man of Steel movie.

Milly Alcock, La Casa del Dragón

James Gunn and Peter Safran have already decided who will play Supergirl in their revamped DCU. Milly Alcock, the actress who played young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, the successful Game of Thrones spin-off, will play Kara Zor-El. It is not yet known if Clark Kent’s cousin will appear in ‘Superman Legacy’, the reboot of the new universe after the end of the Snyderverse, but the character will appear in one of the next projects before leaping her solo production, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

Gunn, director of ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ and ‘Suicide Squad,’ has confirmed the news reported by Deadline. “This one is true,” he said in response to the media outlet’s tweet. “Welcome to the DCU, Milly Alcock!” He did not provide any further details about her role in the new DC films.

The end of the Snyderverse, a new beginning

The company Warner Bros. Discovery decided to put the superhero capes on James Gunn and Peter Safran, who will lead this new stage. During these months, there has been some confusion, as some actors will reprise their roles, although most of them will give up their place to other performers. 2023 was the farewell year of the Snyderverse, with the premiere of some of the productions still to be released, such as ‘Black Adam’, ‘The Flash’, ‘Blue Beetle’ or ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’.

Kara is a character that has been seen in recent years. In the Arrowverse series ‘Supergirl’, Melissa Benoist flew through the skies of National City to guard the city and protect it from the bad guys. In The Flash, the movie starring Ezra Miller, the heroine was Sasha Calle.

‘Superman Legacy’ will begin filming next March. James Gunn expects the movie to be finished in 2025.
