Minecraft’s Aprils Fool’s Day 2025 updates take crafting to the next level

Minecraft has a history of using April Fool’s Day to release special and fun updates that prank players. The year 2025 is no exception, and the Mojang team has prepared a new mode for the survival game that, as tradition dictates, is fully playable.

Go beyond crafting with Craftmine

Mojang knows how much you love crafting and exploring mines, so they’ve taken the idea to the next level. With Craftmine, players will be able to design and build their own custom mines.

“Pick a few resources, put them in the Mine Crafter (we spent a lot of time coming up with that name!) – and it will then generate a mine for you,” reads the official Minecraft site about the update. “Inside your mine, there are more resources to collect, which you can use to create even more astonishing mines! All you have to do is survive long enough to reach the exit.”

How to play with Craftmine?

To test this update, follow these steps in Minecraft: Java Edition:

1. Open the Minecraft Launcher.
2. Go to the Installations tab and enable the “Enable Snapshots” option.
3. Select “The latest snapshot” to play the new version with your friends.

It is worth mentioning that Mojang leaves us this important reminder: “Snapshots can corrupt your world, so please back up your world and/or run the snapshot in a different folder from your main worlds.”

How to Craft in Minecraft’s Craftmine?

When you start Minecraft’s Craftmine, you will appear in a room with the Craftminer block in the middle. To craft items, you will need the crafting block, which is located on the altar where you spawn. To activate it, you will need

1. Find a tree and collect a block of wood
2. Place the wood in the crafter to obtain four wooden planks
3. Place the four wooden planks in a 2x2 grid
4. Activate the lever to craft

Once this is done, you will be able to craft other items in this update.
