Moana 2’s huge success could change the top 10 highest-grossing Disney movies list
After only a few days in theaters, Moana 2 is already looking to jump on the list of most successful Disney films of all time.
The debut of ‘Moana 2′ in theaters is producing stratospheric numbers, having reached a whopping 215 million dollars in the United States alone. These are figures that exceed those of other very popular Disney films, and in the field of animation it is above the 111 million achieved by ‘Monsters Inc.’, the 120 million of ‘Inside Out’ or the 94 million (which would be 127 million today taking inflation into account) of ‘Frozen’. Could it be among the highest-grossing films in the company’s history?
To get an idea, ‘The Incredibles 2′ is in position number 14 on the list, with a total of 1,242 million at the box office, but if we think about just its first three days in theaters, the time that ‘Moana 2′ has been out for now, it’s well on its way to take the lead. The sequel to the family-friendly superhero movie earned almost 183 million at the time, which would be the equivalent of 229 million today. Nothing negligible, but still, below ‘Moana 2′.
However, things get complicated if we include movies from Marvel and Star Wars, but ‘Moana 2′ aims to sneak perfectly into the top 10 in which Marvel is dominant. Currently, the recent Disney animated film is in 85th place with 386 million worldwide, still with time to climb much higher.
