Update:

Last December marked three years since Warner Bros. Games and Monolith Productions announced the Wonder Woman video game at the 2021 Game Awards. Since the release of the first teaser, nothing has been heard about the development of this adventure title, which was a bad sign for many users. Now we know that those fears were justified. According to a report from Bloomberg, the project has been restarted in 2024 with a new director, which has led to significant delays.

Wonder Woman promises to make use of the innovative Nemesis system characteristic of Monolith’s Middle-earth saga. However, despite costing over $100 million so far, the title is still in the early stages of development and its release is still several years away, if it ever sees the light of day.

Tough times for Warner Bros. games

The report also casts a shadow over the state of Warner Bros. Games, noting that games such as Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions and Multiversus have not been as successful as expected. In fact, the latter’s development was recently canceled. On the other hand, it has been mentioned that Rocksteady Studios is working on a new Batman video game that will focus on the single-player experience.

Warner Bros.' video game division has gone through a turbulent period marked by internal reorganization, loss of talent, and a lack of clear direction. This crisis has tarnished the reputation of previously established studios and resulted in hundreds of millions of dollars being wasted on projects that never got off the ground. As a result, the community does not bode well for the company’s future. We will see what happens to Wonder Woman.
