Mortal Kombat 1 is kicking down the front door. The new installment of NetherRealm’s hit franchise has already confirmed the first fighters that will be part of the roster from launch. Along with them, a new mechanic has been revealed, called Kameo Fighters. Here’s everything revealed so far.

What fighters have been confirmed in Mortal Kombat 1?

  • Scorpion
  • Sub-Zero
  • Liu Kang
  • Raiden
  • Kung Lao
  • Kitana
  • Mileena
  • Johnny Cage
  • Shang Tsung

Several details must be taken into account. The first is in relation to Shang Tsung, since this fighter will be present from launch as an exclusive additional content rewarded for pre-ordering the game. There’s no other way to get it in-game at the moment, so if you want to play as the shapeshifter sorcerer you will have to pre-order the game on any of the platforms where Mortal Kombat 1 will be available. On the other hand, being a soft reboot, the relationships between characters differ, so we will see an unprecedented approach to each one.

What are Kameo Fighters in Mortal Kombat 1?

In a press release, the studio points out some of the features that this new installment will present for the first time. Between them, a new mechanic called Kameo Fighters is an secondary roster of characters who will be able to assist the main fighters during combat, thus expanding the possibilities within their reach. The description suggests that it will be a mechanic similar to the assistants that we have seen in other titles like Marvel Vs. Capcom or Super Smash Bros.’ trophies.

Ed Boon, creative director and co-creator of the franchise, ensures that these characters will support the fighter you are using at the moment. Will they have Fatalities? Will there be combos that can be activated with the help of them? We will have to wait for these details to be delved into.

Remember that Mortal Koman 1 will arrive on September 19th on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), and Nintendo Switch.
