After months of waiting, players will finally be able to play as Homelander, the evil and decidedly messed-up superhero from Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’, in Mortal Kombat 1.

Alongside Omni-Man (’Invincible’) and Peacemaker (from DC Comics), Netherrealm Studios has completed a tri-fecta of not-so-nice superheroes for their most recent Mortal Kombat title, all of them extremely well versed in violence and none of them too worried about what they’re doing. You can see the gameplay trailer for this new character (with the looks and voice of Antony Starr himself) below.

This is Homelander from ‘The Boys’ in Mortal Kombat 1: character summary and release date

Homelander will be available in Mortal Kombat 1 in early access starting June 4, 2024. This early access is exclusive to owners of the Premium and Collector’s editions of the game, while it will be available a week later for the rest of the players. It is also part of the Kombat Pack 1 DLC bundle.

Homelander brings with it all its brutality from Amazon’s Prime Video series, with forceful blows and the powerful lasers he can shoot from his eyes. His regular blows have little finesse, as he has never had to learn to fight as such due to his superhuman strength and over-reliance on laser eyebeams.

Of course, Homelander also flaunts his toxic personality, coming to refer to himself as a “God” before Liu Kang himself, who in this timeline is a full-fledged deity. Last but not least, this evil “superhero” also has terrifying moves in the form of his Fatal Blow, his Brutalities, and his Fatalities., with ways to kill enemies such as piercing their skulls with the concentrated lasers from his eyes, or delivering a powerful upward hook that takes their rival to extreme heights until they crash into a plane, and then throwing them into its turbines.

In the Homelander trailer, we can also partially see Ferra’s gameplay, a new Kameo Fighter that will be available in mid-June and is a new version of the character introduced in Mortal Kombat X. In that game she was known as a dual fighter named Ferra/Torr; Ferra is a very short female who attacks with blades but is normally perched on Torr, who is the one who delivers the forceful blows. In Mortal Kombat 1, any fighter can “be” Torr, since Ferra climbs onto our character and provides us with additional movements.

Homelander’s arrival to Mortal Kombat 1 coincides with the release of the long-awaited season 4 of ‘The Boys’. The character was also added to the Call of Duty saga thanks to his arrival in the game as a skin.

What content does the Kombat Pack 1 of Mortal Kombat 1 include?

The first Kombat Pack of the game is a season pass included with the Premium and the Collector’s Edition that can also be purchased separately for $39.99. It includes all of the following:
