MrBeast tells Mark Zeckerberg to his face what Meta is “really bad at” and works much better on YouTube: “If I was CEO...”

Opening up new markets is one of the goals that many companies and creators have pursued in recent years. One of the most important aspects in this regard is the language barrier, something that MrBeast has managed to overcome in his videos. The creator has dubbed his videos into different languages, making his content accessible to more people. The creator himself pointed this out as one of the major shortcomings of Meta in a recent podcast with Mark Zuckerberg.

On the Colin and Samir Show podcast, Jimmy Donaldson—real name MrBeast—discussed how the lack of dubbing options on Meta limits the reach of videos. Unlike YouTube, where creators can upload multiple audio tracks for different languages, this feature is not available on Facebook and other Meta platforms. This, according to Donaldson, drastically reduces his international audience.

“One thing I think really sucks [about Meta] is like, on YouTube you can have different audio tracks. So 70% of my audience on YouTube don’t speak English, so I upload videos, and then you just upload a bunch of different files, so if you click on my video in Mexico, it autoplays in Spanish. What’s brutal is when I post those same videos on Facebook or any of your platforms, I can’t import the dubs over, so my viewership is always just infinitely lower because people from Mexico and Brazil and things can’t watch it with dubs.”

The impact of language on a global audience

For MrBeast, whose content reaches more than 100 countries in 80 different languages, success lies in offering video in the native language of its audience. And that is where Meta lags. “It’s pretty crippling once it clicks in your head. You’re like, Whoa, only like 20% of the world…or whatever the number is consumes content in English…it’s brutal.”

MrBeast’s stance resonated with Zuckerberg, who admitted that the lack of dubbing options is a real barrier to the growth of video on Meta. As a possible solution, the CEO pointed to the potential of artificial intelligence.

For Meta, which wants to reinvigorate Facebook with a more global and less algorithmic approach, integrating this technology could be key. By facilitating access to content in multiple languages, the platform would not only expand its user base but also strengthen its position in the competitive world of social networking.
