‘My Hero Academia’ author releases emotional farewell letter after 10 years with the series
One of the most important manga of the last decade ends and its author says goodbye, for now.
It’s hard to believe that a decade has passed since ‘My Hero Academia’ first appeared in the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump, but the popular series that introduced us to the world of superheroes in manga style has already come to an end. For this reason, its author has not hesitated to leave a farewell letter in which he talks about the series and all that it has meant to him.
Kohei Korikoshi left a message on social media in which he first emphasized “My Hero Academia has finished its serializarion in this week’s Shonen Jump! I was constantly getting beat up by this series, but I somehow made it to the end! Thank you everyone for reading.”
The end of a great series for Shonen Jump
Kohei Horikoshi went on to talk about what the ten years of ‘My Hero Academia’ had meant to him, saying, “I will never forget the joy and weight of battling other mangaka in the widely admired Jump magazine, mangaka who each have awesome stories of their own. And for a brief time, Deku even stood right next to Luffy, which to me was a miracle! Deku and friends are still being drawn in comics, and the anime is on-air, the movie is showing in theaters, the games are still on-going, the spin-off serializations are still happening, there’s tons of events- so many people are helping the My Hero Academia series to keep moving forward that it doesn’t feel like it’s ending at all!”
