NBA 2K24 special editions to feature the legendary Kobe Bryant
The Lakers legend will be on the cover of the Kobe Bryant Edition and the Black Mamba Edition.
NBA 2K24 is starting to show its face, and we already know who will occupy the covers of the special editions: it will be none other than Kobe Bryant, the legend of the Los Angeles Lakers, who passed away in 2020. We do not yet know what the contents of these editions will be, but they will certainly come with a lot of Black Mamba themed items.
The two editions with Kobe on the cover
These editions will be called the Kobe Bryant Edition and the Black Mamba Edition, and the cover art for both has already been revealed by 2K Games. In the Kobe Bryant Edition, we have Kobe wearing the number 8 jersey that he wore during his early years in the NBA, including those exciting years when he won his first three titles with Shaquille O’Neal and Phil Jackson on the bench.
Meanwhile, the Black Mamba edition already bears the number 24, the one he wore after the retirement of the aforementioned O’Neal and with which he would win two more rings in 2009 and 2010, along with Pau Gasol. Pre-orders for both editions will open tomorrow, a day we hope to see the contents of each edition revealed.
It remains to be seen who will be the protagonist of the cover of the standard edition, after the last two deliveries were two young players who are already superstars in the league, as in the case of Luka Doncic and Devin Booker. Both are among the elite at their position, but on the other hand they have not been successful in the playoffs so far, although we can not yet speak of a “2K Curse” as we did at the time of Madden Curse. This could change in the case of the latter, as the Phoenix Suns are putting together a team with Booker, Kevin Durant or DeAndre Ayton already present, having added another great figure like Bradley Beal.
