Netflix’s ‘Arcane’ is now the most expensive animated series in history
League of Legends’ ‘Arcane’ is already breaking records thanks to its bloated production budget, becoming the most expensive animated series of all time.
The popular and beloved ‘Arcane’ has set out to beat all the records possible. In 2022 it was the first series of a streaming platform to get an Emmy, and now with the premiere of its second season still to happen, it’s managed to break another record: becoming the most expensive animated series in history. $250 million is the exact figure that it has cost to produce it.
The total cost of ‘Arcane: League of Legends’ is absolutely dizzying
The animated Netflix adaptation of Riot Games’ League of Legends characters is officially the most expensive animated series of all time. Its budget shot up to $250 million, as reported by Variety. Although the initial plan was for it to have five seasons, it will end after only two seasons divided into nine episodes each.
The first season of ‘Arcane’ was highly praised for elements such as the quality of its animation, its plot, its action sequences, its great emotional charge, and its dubbing. Taking this precedent into account, expectations for the second and final season of the series are through the roof, and given the high quality of the first nine episodes, it is to be expected that those responsible for this project will once again satisfy fans with the remaining nine chapters.
The second season of ‘Arcane’ premieres exclusively on Netflix on November 9, 2024 with a staggered release; On 11/09/2024, act 1 (episodes 1, 2, and 3) is released, on 11/16/2024, act 2 (episodes 4, 5, and 6) is released, and on 11/23/2024, act 3 brings us the conclusion (episodes 7, 8 and 9).
