Netflix’s One Piece unveils new making-of video with never-before-seen footage and a memorable poster
Netflix’s most expensive series to date is heating up ahead of its August 31 premiere with a new behind-the-scenes trailer.
In just over a week, one of the most anticipated television premieres of the year will take place. After years of waiting, this coming August 31, 2023, will be the day that the live-action One Piece series will land, (or should it be sail?) on Netflix with the release of its first full season. To help fans of Eiichiro Oda’s work wait a little longer, the popular streaming platform has released a new making-of trailer full of unseen footage and impressions from the protagonists, as well as a poster that many will want to frame and hang on their walls.
A new glimpse of Netflix’s One Piece live-action film
“Go behind the scenes of Netflix’s live-action One Piece”, we can read next to this new Netflix trailer with a making style that allows us to see how the ambitious project of bringing the story of One Piece directly from the manga to the small screen was conceived. An adaptation to which the creator of the manga, Eiichiro Oda, has been very attentive:
“Even after the shoot was over, there were numerous scenes the production agreed to re-shoot because I felt they weren’t good enough to put out into the world. On the other hand, there were also some lines that I thought didn’t feel like Luffy on paper… but when I saw the filmed scenes, I went ‘It works when it’s Iñaki performing it as Luffy! As a matter of fact, it works great!’”, Oda commented some time ago.
This new promotional material is accompanied by a new poster, which you can see above, introducing the main characters that will appear in live-action during this first season of One Piece.
