New details revealed about Scarlet & Violet, the Pokémon TCG, Unite, and the location of the next Pokémon World Championships

The 2023 Pokémon World Championships have come to a close, and the Closing Ceremony gives us a glimpse into the future of Pokémon through various games.

The 2023 Pokémon World Championships are over. After 3 days of competition, a new group of champions have emerged victorious, proving that they are the best. In addition to recognizing the champions of Pokémon Unite, Pokémon GO, Pokémon TCG, and Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the stage became the setting for announcements regarding the immediate future of the franchise, as well as the location of the next Pokémon World Championships in 2024. While we had news earlier in the week with Pokémon Presents, there were still some details to be revealed.

Pokémon Unite

Blazikem, Mimikyu and Meowscarada will be the new Pokémon coming to Pokémon Unite, with the former making an appearance in the game on September 14th.

New Pokémon Trading Card Game Expansion

Continuing the elements of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, the next Pokémon Trading Card Game expansion will focus on Paradox Pokémon, grouping them into two mechanics, Ancient and Future. This new, yet unnamed expansion will be released in the fall of this year. This was not the only surprise, as it was also announced that Ace Spec will return in 2024.

New details on The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC

Despite being part of the presentation earlier this week, new details were announced about the second part of Scarlet & Violet’s DLC, The Indigo Mask. For one, it was announced that starters from previous regions will be available, though no mention was made of how to obtain them.

On the other hand, new moves that will come with this DLC were shown, including Psychic Noise, Upper Hand, Thunderclap, and Tachyon Cutter. A new Terastallizing mechanic was also previewed, but no new details were given.

See you in 2024

Finally, the location of the next Pokémon World Championships has been announced. Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO and President of Pokémon Company International, revealed that the 2024 Pokémon World Championships will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, bringing the Pokémon World Championships to the United States for their 20th anniversary. No further details on the dates of the next Pokémon event were given at this time, but we will be sure to provide more information as it becomes available.
