New iPad update lets you plug and play with Nintendo Switch

Did you know you can now use your Apple device as a portable display?

The Apple iPad, along with the iPhone, is a very popular device used by millions of people around the world for its combination of state-of-the-art hardware and software, along with the unmistakable finish of Apple products. This is possible thanks to the support that Apple provides to its mobile phones and tablets through iOS, its exclusive operating system. And soon, sometime in the fall, iPadOS 17 will arrive, the next big update that will allow us, among other things, to use our iPad as a monitor to enjoy Nintendo Switch games.

How to connect the Nintendo Switch to an iPad

  • The first thing to remember is that the console must be in dock mode. This means that it will not work if you connect it directly with a cable, so you have to place it in the dock, just like you would if you wanted to play on a TV.
  • You will need an HDMI cable, such as the one that came with your Nintendo Switch or any other cable you have at home.
  • A USB-C to HDMI connector is essential for connecting the console to the iPad. You can get one for $15. For example, this one from Amazon.
  • Once the two devices are connected, you need to access the FaceTime application on the iPad to see the image sent by the console. To improve the quality, you will need to download Screen Capture Pro from the App Store. It allows you to adjust the image to 1080p and full screen.
