New Mega Evolutions are coming in the new Pokémon TCG expansion, Ascended Heroes
Update:

Mega Evolutions continue to arrive in the Pokémon Trading Card Game, now adding some of the characters we’ve seen in the recently released Pokémon Legends Z-A. The Pokémon Company revealed what will be the next expansion in the Mega Evolution series earlier this year with the announcement of Ascended Heroes.

More Mega Evolutions and a new rarity

Ascended Heroes will focus on bringing us popular ex-Mega Evolution Pokémon and Pokémon from returning Trainers. In addition to this, it will also introduce a new rarity: Mega attack rare, which features the names of attacks in Japanese katakana script.

As previously revealed, the Mega Evolution series brings back an extremely powerful group of Pokémon. These cards will have higher HP, high-damage attacks—even more than conventional ex Pokémon—and new game effects. However, to maintain competitive balance, Mega Evolution ex Pokémon will award three prize cards when defeated. One important change is that it will no longer be necessary to go through all the previous evolutionary stages, so it will now be possible to Mega Evolve a Riolu directly into Mega Lucario without going through Lucario.

What cards can we expect from Ascended Heroes?

  • 13 Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
  • Six Tera Pokémon ex and 20 Pokémon ex
  • 33 illustration rare Pokémon
  • 14 ultra rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Pokémon ex and Trainer cards
  • Seven Mega attack rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex
  • 22 special illustration rare Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, Pokémon ex and Supporter cards
