New Nintendo Direct imminent: date and time confirmed for Switch 2 news and the future of the console

A notification on Nintendo Today is enough to announce the company’s next step with Switch 2. On September 12 at 6:00 am PT, the Japanese company will confirm what to expect for the console in the coming months and early 2026. The presentation will last around 60 minutes and will also include news about its predecessor.

What can we expect from this Nintendo Direct?

It’s clear that there are some issues Nintendo needs to address in this first major Direct post-launch of Switch 2. It’s the first event dedicated to first-party titles since the console hit the market, so we expect the cards to be laid on the table even in early 2026.

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is undoubtedly the game that is attracting the most attention. Its release date is fast approaching, especially after learning about its rating from age classification boards such as Brazil’s. You can feel it in the air. Despite being intergenerational, it is a game that breathes Switch 2 soul.

The new Hyrule Warriors follows in Samus’ footsteps. It will definitely be the place where we can put it on the calendar. With Kirby Air Raiders in November, The Legend of Zelda musou will likely be pushed back to early 2026, in January, after the Christmas rush. Metroid looks like it will be released in December.

And along the way, there are third parties such as Elden Ring and Final Fantasy VII Remake, which are sure to be around for the rest of 2025. Surprises are expected on both sides. There is talk of a port of Resident Evil Requiem, while in terms of exclusives, the 40th anniversary of Super Mario is just around the corner. Our instincts tell us that the new Mario 3D is much closer than many people think.
