New ‘Superman’ set photos give us a first look at Hawkgirl, Green Lantern, and Mister Terrific

Leaked images from the filming of James Gunn’s ‘Superman’ keep coming to light, something that the director confessed a few days ago that he saw coming, taking into account filming outdoors. Gunn was fully aware that this would happen, but it is serving as a way for fans to get their first glimpse of the stars of the cast characterized as the characters of his film, with this now being our first look at Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Edi Gathegi.

And while it is very exciting to finally see them in action, it also appears like this shows off just what we could expect from them: a fairly unknown group of heroes with a fourth member hidden in plain sight, as a blue-suited stand-in for what will be added through VFX accompanies the group.

Curiously, their outfits have caused alarm in some fans who aren’t very versed in the history of DC comics, as Green Lantern’s suit is almost entirely white instead of its characteristic green. However, apart from this being the first live-action version of Guy Gardner, the fact that all three of the new heroes we can se seem to be coordinated is one of the biggest tells that something is up:

So who are they supposed to be? Eagle-eyed fans have spotted all of them wearing LordTech logos, which could point to them being under the patronage of Maxwell Lord, the Wonder Woman supervillain with his own technology company. However, the look of the suits and the presence of Mister Terrific seem to point towards this being a new version of The Terrifics.

The white suits and leather jackets might be the thing that confirms it. The Terrifics in the comics is an obscure team-up led by Mister Terrific himself, which includes Plastic Man, Metamorpho, and Phantom Girl. This team would be formed to spoil the plans of a villain opening up a portal to the Dark Multiverse. What they could be in this specific version of themselves, is still a mystery.
