Today at New York Comic Con (NYCC), HBO dropped the highly anticipated trailer for Dune: Prophecy, the prequel series set in Frank Herbert’s expansive Dune universe. Alongside the trailer, the official release date of November 17 was announced, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the saga.
Set 10,000 years before the events of the main Dune films, Dune: Prophecy will explore the origins of the powerful Bene Gesserit sisterhood. The series focuses on the Harkonnen sisters, Valya and Tula, and their rise to power through political manipulation and covert schemes. Showrunner Alison Schapker explained during the panel that Dune: Prophecy will delve into how power operates both in the shadows and in the spotlight, providing a deeper look at the mystique of the Bene Gesserit without diminishing their enigmatic presence.
