James Gunn’s DCU is slowly but surely making its way. So much so that after the premiere of ‘Superman’ and the upcoming ‘Supergirl’ and ’Clayface’—beyond the already released series that are part of the same universe, such as ‘Creature Commandos’ and ‘Peacemaker’— the big event of 2027 will be ‘Man of Tomorrow,’ the direct sequel to the new Man of Steel movie starring David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult. The duo will join forces in the new film to face a greater threat: Brainiac? Whatever the case may be, Nicholas Hoult is already preparing for a role that is sure to be even more physically demanding, as evidenced by his new physique.

With a theatrical release scheduled for summer 2027, ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is about to begin principal photography with the main stars of the first film. And it seems that Nicholas Hoult is doing his best to show his more physical side on the big screen, as his Lex Luthor is expected to go straight into combat thanks to his iconic green armor, as suggested by the film’s first concept art.

To achieve this, Hoult has enlisted the help of physical trainer Paolo Mascitti, a regular among big stars who want to get in great shape for their roles. The Hollywood trainer himself recently showed this in an Instagram story, showing Hoult flexing his biceps in front of the mirror. These biceps are considerably more voluminous than what we are used to seeing from the British actor.

We recently saw Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor in an acclaimed cameo appearance in the second season of ‘Peacemaker,’ showing his current situation after the catastrophic events of ‘Superman.’ However, when he and David Corenswet meet again in 2027, the dynamic between Lex and the Man of Steel will take a very different turn.

It was recently confirmed that Isabela Merced, who played Hawkgirl in 2025’s ‘Superman,’ will reprise the role in ‘Man of Tomorrow’ alongside Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane and Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. Gunn has confirmed that Batman and Wonder Woman will not be in the film, but that a new female character, whose identity has not yet been revealed by DC Studios, will debut in the DCU as part of its plot.
