Nickelodeon Unveils First Look at Avatar: Seven Havens at San Diego Comic-Con 2025
Meet Pavi, Geet and Jae.
San Diego Comic-Con 2025 delivered exciting news for fans of the Avatar universe as Nickelodeon officially unveiled the first image and key details for Avatar: Seven Havens. The reveal, made during the Avatar: The Last Airbender 20th anniversary panel in Ballroom 20, offered a glimpse into the future of this beloved franchise.
The first image from Avatar: Seven Havens introduces Pavi, a young Earthbender who is slated to become the next Avatar, following in the footsteps of Avatar Korra. The artwork showcases Pavi alongside her loyal cat monkey companion, Geet, and her Airbending mentor, Jae. This initial visual also provides a look at Allura, the city where these new characters reside.
A New Era and Artistic Vision
Co-created by the original Avatar: The Last Airbender masterminds, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, Avatar: Seven Havens promises a fresh take on the lore. Konietzko emphasized the creative team’s desire for innovation, stating, “It’s something totally different. We like to change up the style. We like to make each project its own thing. As you can see, it still feels like Avatar, but the world is very different. You’ll have to tune in to find out why.” This commitment to evolving the visual and narrative style ensures that while the series retains its core identity, it will offer a distinct experience for long-time fans and newcomers alike.
The narrative of Seven Havens is set in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event, where the title of Avatar has taken on a dark new meaning. Instead of being seen as a savior, the new Avatar, Pavi, is viewed as humanity’s destroyer. This perilous setting forces Pavi and her long-lost twin to embark on a quest to uncover their mysterious origins and protect the last remaining strongholds of civilization from both human and spirit adversaries. The series will span 26 episodes, divided into two books, each consisting of 13 episodes, marking it as the first mainline TV series to emerge from Avatar Studios.
During the panel, Konietzko also provided a tease for The Last Airbender: The Legend of Aang, a new animated feature film. While no footage was shown, Konietzko hinted at the groundbreaking 2D animation combined with “deep canvass environments,” promising an unprecedented visual experience. He declared, “There is nothing that looks like this...it’s just gonna blow you away.” Fans can anticipate more details and a potential first look at this film, which is set for an October 9, 2026, release, at next year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
