Nintendo Switch 2 is warming up its engines. The company wants to be ready and prepared when it announces it
Financial accounts of one of the main companies in charge of production point to movement.
The buzz in the information of the successor of Switch is constant and increases with time, with better or worse rumors found every week, if not every day. But one of the latest rumors seems to have a good basis. As almost always, the epicenter is the subreddit GamingLeaksandRumours, which in turn points to the specialized Nintendo forum Famiboards, where they have analyzed the financial accounts of one of the main allies of the house of Kyoto when it comes to the production of Nintendo Switch: the Taiwanese company FoxConn.
According to this information, the data points to significant progress in the production of Nintendo’s next console, which in the absence of an official name is still called Switch 2. User “fwd-bwd” analyzed financial information from FoxConn, highlighting a 223% increase in operating income compared to the previous year. This growth coincides with previous reports linking FoxConn to technologies compatible with video game consoles, such as magnetic joysticks, which may be destined for Nintendo’s new platform, as it is the main suspect for such a significant increase in production.
Reports suggest that FoxConn has completed the assembly of Switch 2 units, and even suggest that they have already been shipped to Nintendo for storage or pre-distribution, as only units that have left the factory and shipped to customers can be recorded as operating income. This strategy would be aimed at accumulating inventory in order to shorten the time between the official announcement of the system and its launch. All this in sufficient quantities so as not to create supply problems and to start with the best possible foot from a logistical point of view and to satisfy the most loyal Nintendo users, always very predisposed to jump to the new platform bets that emerge from the home of Mario.
What do we know about Switch 2?
If we stick to officialdom, since Nintendo usually sets its own pace by making announcements in its own time and without intermediaries, directly to its audience, what we know is what the company president himself, Shuntaro Furukawa, moved: the plan is to announce the new machine before the end of the fiscal year, which in this case is March 2025.
We also know other details that we have reported in the past, such as its first known games or that it will be compatible with the games of the current Switch (although at the moment we only have the certainty that they will be digitally compatible, since we do not know what kind of format the new machine will have).
