Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are imminent: Canada’s leading retailer removes date that was pushed forward
The Nintendo Switch 2 will go on pre-order shortly after its unveiling on April 2.

It’s imminent. The latest Direct for the current console showed that the company is already thinking about the next chapter in its history. On April 2, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be unveiled in style, and in the meantime, one question has been floating around: when will it be available for pre-order? A major Canadian retail chain has revealed the exact date when pre-orders will begin, although the information is nuanced.
Best Buy Canada has announced that its pre-order campaign will begin on April 2, the day of the Direct where the console will be unveiled. The move suggests that Nintendo is giving retailers the green light to begin accepting reservations shortly after the event. However, the post was removed shortly after it was published. Wario64, a well-known industry insider, revealed that the information was an “error” on the part of the retailers. For now, we remain hopeful.
It will be at the presentation when we will know its release date, price, first games and accessories. Nintendo has everything ready for the Nintendo Switch 2 to make history, and its pre-order campaign is the first step to reach the market.
This is Nintendo’s plan for Switch 2
The Insider Gaming portal, led by Insider Tom Henderson, recently published the plan that Nintendo will follow with Switch 2. The Direct that will be held on April 2 will only be a preview of what is to come in the calendar of this 2025. June is the month chosen to launch the console, which will be surrounded by exclusives in its first phase. Third-party games will follow, and then a bombshell will be dropped for Christmas.
This last phase is inevitably reminiscent of what we’ve seen with the current console. October 2017 saw the release of Super Mario Odyssey, the big Mario 3D after Super Mario 3D World, and December will see the release of Xenoblade Chronicles 2. There is reason to believe that something big is brewing.
