Not only does Microsoft's boss want more Xbox exclusives on PS5 and Nintendo Switch, but there are already more titles in development

According to Windows Central, Satya Nadella has stated that there are no red lines, so any game can be ported.

That Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, does not have a great appreciation for exclusive games is nothing new. The head of the company has publicly stated that if it were up to him, he would get rid of exclusives on consoles.

At the time, he said he couldn’t do it because the dominant competitor - Sony - was using such titles as a marketing strategy: “That’s the world we live in... I have no love for that world,” the executive said. During these months, there has been a shift towards multiplatform, not only in the case of Xbox, but also in PlayStation with the PC. According to Windows Central, the Redmond boss is pushing to go further down this path and launch more of its own video games on competing systems. In fact, they are already working on more ports.

The strategy of releasing Xbox games on PS5 and Nintendo Switch is known internally under the code name “Latitude”. According to Windows Central, there is a debate within Microsoft about whether this is the right way to go or not. The truth is that after the first leaks, Phil Spencer, head of the gaming division, confirmed the arrival of Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves on other platforms. The triumph of RARE’s pirate game on PS5 has paved the way for a multiplatform future.

More Xbox games are on the way for other consoles

Microsoft is currently working on more Xbox-owned video games for the PS5, although no specific titles have been revealed. Windows Central has claimed that the US giant is not pushing any red lines, as Nadella himself and CFO Amy Hood have ordered all business units to increase their margins. The closure of Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin is part of a cost-cutting plan that has led to the loss of thousands of jobs.

In another article, Eurogamer has stressed that “numerous other games are under consideration, including titles in the company’s biggest franchises.” At the moment, Xbox has not announced any additional projects for PS5 and Nintendo Switch.
