The Nvidia GeForce 256 GPU was the first graphics card released by the manufacturer more than two decades ago.

Looking back, no one could have imagined Nvidia’s meteoric rise in the world of technology. It has been 25 years since the manufacturer launched its first graphics card, the mythical GeForce 256. To celebrate, the team has created a computer that combines the nostalgia of 1999 cabinets with the muscle of today’s technology.

As you can see in the image, the tone of the poster looks like an advertising campaign from the same year. In fact, it was Unreal Tournament that was one of the games that quickly brought the GPU to prominence. The combination computer they assembled looks no different from the classic white blocks that the lucky ones had in their homes. Inside is the real thing: GeForce RTX 4080 Super, AMD 7800X3D CPU, Asus TUF Gaming B650M-Plus motherboard and 32 GB of G Skill Trident Z5 RAM. The SSD is on you!

AnandTech reported in 1999 that Quake 2 “it feels like you’ve never even seen the title before this moment.” Within a few years, it became a benchmark that gave birth to the genres we know today.
