Riot Games

One of ‘Arcane’ creators gives hints about future seasons and stories for League of Legends

The people at Riot Games are already working on future spin-offs of Arcane set in the wide world of Runeterra.

Arcane

Arcane’ has come to an end. Despite the success of the series set in the League of Legends universe, Netflix has decided not to renew it. Does that mean there won’t be any more new content? In an exclusive interview with The Direct, co-creator Christian Linke has revealed some of the future plans. He did not reveal anything specific, but he did give clues about possible new productions. And Riot Games and Fortiche Production have not ended their collaboration, so there are new stories and spin-offs to tell.

There will be no season 3 as such, but...

“Not Season 3 so much, but individual stories of certain characters that are in ‘Arcane,’ in both seasons,” Linke has revealed. What’s more, the showrunner has gone even further and said that ‘Arcane’ is the beginning of something new: “[There] definitely are like, ‘Hey, let’s continue their stories in their own kind of franchises and stories.’ So definitely, ‘Arcane’ is just the first. We want to continue telling stories.”

As of today there is nothing concrete, but Linke would like to explore other regions of the League of Legends world such as Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. They are contemplating making “several series and games,” he revealed.

Both seasons of ‘Arcane’ are available on Netflix. The production has reached a record, as it has become the most expensive animated series in the history of television: it has cost a total of 250 million dollars. There has been speculation that the initial plan was to develop five seasons., but Linke has denied it: “It is the first of many stories we want to tell in Runeterra.”
