One Piece: Eiichiro Oda answers the big question about Luffy and his father Dragon

A father who did not have it easy because of his position and his ideals.

Eiichiro Oda, the creator of ‘One Piece’, recently answered ten questions about the series, involving characters of enormous importance. One of the most anticipated has to do with Monkey D. Dragon and Monkey D. Luffy, father and son, and whether they ever lived together.

The question is the following: “Did Dragon spend any time with Luffy?” To which Eiichiro Oda answered: “In Luffy’s memory, Dragon didn’t leave many memories. Unlike Kuma, his position as leader of the Revolutionary Army makes maintaining a father-son bond dangerous if it is discovered, putting Luffy at risk. I wonder what feelings Dragon must have had to be separated from his family and what it must have felt like to see his son in Loguetown.”

Oda and the great mysteries of ‘One Piece’

Monkey D. Dragon, Luffy’s father, is one of the great mysteries of the series. A figure of enormous importance, leader of the Revolutionary Army, whom we have only seen on rare occasions and about whom there is still no certainty about his powers or his level. At this point in Oda’s work, it should not be long before we learn much more about someone who will have much to say and contribute.

The ten questions answered by Eiichiro Oda clear up some doubts about important characters like Luffy, Dragon or Shanks. Even Figarland Garlind makes an appearance, someone who will have a lot to say in the final stretch of a series that is almost three decades old and still going strong.
