One Piece

‘One Piece’ is celebrating its 25th anniversary on Crunchyroll and Netflix with a never-before-told story about Nami

The platforms will air an emotional short film that every fan can relate to, based on the book “Straw Hat Stories”.

One Piece

This October 20, it will be 25 years since the first episode of ‘One Piece’ aired, and to celebrate, a special short film inspired by one of the novels in the series will be aired. Called ‘One Piece Fan Letter’ and based on the 2017 book ‘Straw Hat Stories’. This tribute will be broadcast worldwide on October 26, 2024, via Netflix and Crunchyroll and will be supervised by creator Eiichiro Oda, who has chosen the talented and very contrasted Megumi Ishitani to direct it.

Set immediately after the time jump, the short will show how the Mugiwaras have affected the lives of the citizens of the Grand Line, and more specifically, how the character of Nami has been inspirational to some people. Or to put it another way, it will be an allegory of how Oda has changed the lives of so many people in the real world. Keep an eye out for the synopsis:

“A young girl obsessed with Nami dreams of meeting her, until one day the Straw Hats arrive in her region, the Sabaody Archipelago. Torn between the fear of encountering pirates and the illusion of meeting the cat burglar, the little girl disguises herself as a pirate and begins searching everywhere. Her adventure will lead her to infiltrate the False Mugiwaras and face the fearsome Sentomaru’s Pacifists. Will she succeed in finding her idol?”

List of all One Piece novels.

‘Straw Hat Stories’ was the first novel of the series to be published, but not the last. These are all books based on ‘One Piece’ and approved by Eiichiro Oda:

  • ‘One Piece novel: Straw Hat stories’ (2017)
  • ‘One Piece novel: Portgas Ace’ (2018)

  • ‘One Piece novel HEROINES’ (2021)
  • ‘One Piece novel Zoro’ (2024)

There’s no doubt that it’s a good time to set sail with Luffy, because even though the end of the series is already in sight, the One Piece faithful will have a feast in the coming years. The remake announced by Wit Studio will be joined by the new remaster, the second season of the live action (of which we already know how much it covers), and of course the new manga releases, which are already in Elbaf. Long live the straw hats!
